We are committed to fostering inclusive participation across disciplines, bringing together artists, researchers, linguists, and cultural practitioners who share an interest in challenging exclusionary narratives in the arts. ArTguments invites artists from the UK and internationally who have experienced exclusion, marginalisation, or underrepresentation within artistic or institutional contexts to participate in an international open call. Selected artists may have their work featured in a curated virtual exhibition alongside video testimonies (up to 30 seconds) recounting real situations where the artist or their work was denied opportunities for reasons unrelated to artistic quality — such as racial, gender or class bias, censorship, lack of credentials, or institutional policies. Participants may choose to remain anonymous. This call is open permanently.
ArTguments is seeking a native English-speaking linguist or computational linguist with expertise in discourse analysis and argumentation for a one-off annotation task. The selected candidate will annotate three texts about art, identifying argumentative segments and labelling the corresponding claims and premises. Based on their expertise, the linguist is expected to propose a simple yet effective annotation model. This is a paid collaboration with remuneration to be agreed upon based on experience and proposed approach.
